Chasing Sunshine: The Story Behind Sunseeker - Coastal IPA

Sunseeker is here!

We’ve collaborated with our mates at Copper & Oak Liquor Merchants and created what might be the ultimate beach IPA.

Independent, and family owned, Copper & Oak have been liquor retailing the in Tuart Hill since 2003, and opened a store in Guildford in 2022 which won the Liquor Store Association of WA’s Best Western Australian Liquor Retailer 2024 – we like to keep good company!

Our collaboration began almost twelve months before its release. We talked about the feel of what the beer might be, and where it would be enjoyed – something that celebrated Margaret River region but still felt natural further afield.

In late March, Copper & Oak’s Guy Southern spent the day with us and describes Sunseeker’s moment inspiration.

“Margs is a special place, full of natural beauty and a relaxed vibe. Illiya (Hastings, Co-Founder & Co-owner) was driving me around town with the windows down, and 90s Grunge playing in the background, and I thought ‘this is how our beer should feel’ – that moment of relaxed freedom and anticipation on the way to beach”

From there the beer concept quickly took shape, and we dubbed our collab a Coastal IPA. It’s a beer with a lean, clean malt base, hop forward character and crisp finish that maximises coastal crushability.

We worked with our graphic designer Jarrod Fuller of Zendoke on the name and label. The sunseeker term encapsulates the attitude and mood of the beer, while the label design draws from 90s gig posters and tribal tattoos. There’s even a couple of heavy classics hidden in the label notes.

Sunseeker launches on 1st December – the first day of Summer!
